Lost Track

Weaves, also called tracks, extensions and wefts, are generally used to enhance a woman’s appearance, giving the wearer long luxurious locks of hair. While riding my bike around downtown Cleveland, I discovered these objects of beauty on the side of the road, tumbling around in parking lots, and peeking out of cracks in the sidewalk. It made me wonder how they ended up there, what is the story that lead up to their abandonment, and who wore them. This fascination led me to collect the discarded wefts, roll ink onto the hair, and run them through a printing press to create a series of monoprints titled, “Lost Track”.
